Linking three continents, the cultural area called the Middle East stretches from Turkey in the north, to Afghanistan in the East; to Morocco in the west and Sudan in the south. This area has in periods housed some of the most advanced cultures of its time. The region is characterized by strong political tensions, religious diversity, wealth and poverty. Today, it is like the famous mosaics of the region, made up of the many colorful people groups, challenging languages and religions.
The Church of the Nazarene entered the mosaic of the Middle East at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, we are actively involved in many countries through a variety of compassionate ministries and outreaches to children, youth and families with meetings in both traditional church buildings and in homes. Our pastors and leaders have a vision of seeing the whole region impacted for Christ Although still at times a difficult and hard soil for the gospel, people groups and cities are increasingly open to the “Good News” in ways that would have been unimaginable only two or three decades ago.
If you have questions or would like to know more about the work of the Church of the Nazarene in the Middle East and ways that you can get involved and pray for the ministries there, a good place to start is by browsing this website. You can also contact us at emednazarene@me.com.
